7 Locations for the Best Couples or Engagement Shoot in Utah

Oh, Utah! What a freakin bomb place to live and an even better place to be a photographer! There are so many incredible locations for couples + engagement photoshoots in Utah. From the red desert to the pine-covered mountains, with the wildflower spring fields, and of course the unearthly Salt Flats--Utah leaves nothing to be desired for beautiful landscapes that are perfect for photoshoots.

I've narrowed down my top 7 favorite photoshoot locations for couples + engagements that will give you a little of everything incredible Utah has to offer.

  1. Bonneville Salt Flats
You have to see this place to believe it! The Bonneville Salt Flats are unlike anywhere else in the world. With their brilliantly white landscape that seems to go on endlessly, mountain peaks rising in the distance, and cracks in the salt, this is one of the most incredible photography locations.

    2. St. George, Utah
This location is one of my favorites because you get the famously Southern Utah red rock that is very easily accessed. There are so many easy access spots and the most gorgeous red rock landscape that Utah is famous for. Plus, this is a great location to hit up during Utah’s freezing winters!

    3. Moab, Utah
If you are looking for those quintessential red rock arches that Utah is known for, this is the location for you. There is nothing more stunning than a beautiful couple kissing under a vibrate red arch. Take a drive through Arches National Park and you will have more gorgeous photoshoot locations than you could ever hope for!

    4. Park City, Utah
With it’s mountains and evergreen trees everywhere, the landscape is beautiful everywhere you look. This historical downtown area nestled at the base of gorgeous mountain peaks makes for the best photography location. You can go city or mountains, or both! There is nothing more adorable than photographing a couple in a quaint little town. Add a beautiful mountainous landscape in the background, and you've got a photographer's dream location. There are some gorgeous spots in the mountains overlooking Park City and a nearby reservoir with jagged rocks you can climb on that make for such a stunning and adventurous backdrop.

    5. Little Sahara Sand Dunes
This is the prime location for an engagement photoshoot. The sand is a dreamy cream color that makes for the most beautiful photographs that complement any couple. Imagine yourself running down a huge sand dune in a flowy dress with your lover, it’ll be such a fun time and you’ll get some great photos out of it. Be sure to be at this location during sunset and be prepared to take the most amazing sunset engagements you’ve ever taken!

    6. Big Cottonwood Canyon
These are the mountains people paint in pictures. They are rough and jagged and rocky, yet beautifully covered in larger-than-life pines and aspens. The fall leaves are the most vibrant and incredible reds, oranges, and yellows. As a bonus, there are several lakes up this canyon that make for the most perfect engagement backdrops.

    7. American Fork Canyon
Another gorgeous mountainous location for engagement photoshoots. This canyon is particularly gorgeous in the spring when it is absolutely covered in wild-flowers. It also has a quaint and beautiful mountain lake at Tibble Fork that has the most picturesque dock to photograph on.

There you have it! Red rock arches to sand dunes to mountains to wild-flower fields--these locations have it all! Being a photographer in Utah is full of endless photoshoot possibilities. Expand your photography portfolio and take the most gorgeous photographs of your career at any one of these 7 incredible locations.
