Utah Family Pictures That Feel Like You

Let’s get real… taking family photos can feel like herding wild animals. But that chaos? That’s exactly what makes it fun. I’m not here to pose you stiffly and ask your toddler to say “cheese” for the tenth time. I’m here to capture the real stuff: tickle fights, snack breaks, big hugs, muddy shoes, and all.

I’ve had families laugh, roll in the grass, and play tag mid-shoot. And honestly? Those are the moments that turn into photos you’ll absolutely love. Because when your family feels comfortable, that’s when the magic happens.

What You Can Expect in Your Session

As your Utah family photographer, I’ve got your back from the second you book. Whether you're bringing one baby or a whole crew of energetic kiddos, I’ll guide you every step of the way.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Hang out somewhere beautiful (Utah has no shortage—Tunnel Springs Park, Antelope Island, or even the sand dunes if you're feeling adventurous)

  • Let the little ones run wild (controlled chaos encouraged!)

  • Snap photos as we go—candid, playful, and full of love

You just show up, and I’ll do the rest. Really. I’ve got games, prompts, silly jokes, and enough energy to match your toddler’s sugar rush.

Favorite Locations for Your Utah Family Photo Session

I’m based in Salt Lake City and travel all over Utah for sessions. Want beautiful locations with wide open fields? Tall grass and a glowing sunset? Maybe pine trees or a pond for the kids to explore? I’ve got favorite spots in every direction year-round.

Some of the multiple locations I absolutely love for Utah family photos:

  • Tunnel Springs Park – golden hills, tall grass, and dreamy views of the city

  • Antelope Island – open space, soft light, and those salty textures

  • Tibble Fork Reservoir – perfect for summer shoots with water-loving kids

  • Bonneville Salt Flats – if you want something epic (bring the boots!)

  • Great Salt Lake - calm water, wide skies, and a stunning glow at sunset

Or if you’re not sure? I’ll help you pick the perfect place based on your family’s vibe and season.

What to Wear for Family Portraits

This part stresses a lot of parents out. Don’t worry, I’ve got tips! Stick to soft, coordinating colors (nothing too matchy-matchy), and pick pieces you feel good in. Comfortable clothes = confident smiles. And yes, I’m happy to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully.

Making Family Sessions Fun (Even for Dads)

Most kids don’t love posing, and a lot of dads aren’t super hyped about photos. That’s why I keep sessions fast-paced, low-pressure, and focused on fun when I photograph families. We'll move, laugh, play, and create images that reflect your real life, not a magazine ad.

You might start out thinking, “We’ll see how this goes,” and end up saying, “Wow, that was actually fun!”

Why I Love Being a Family Photographer

I’m a wife and a big fan of photos that evoke emotions. My walls are filled with pictures of my own crew, and I know how quickly these moments fly by. When I take your photos, I’m looking for the love you don’t always see in the moment. The sideways glances, the tiny fingers wrapped around yours, the way your kids look at you like you hung the moon. That’s what I love to capture.

I know how fast life moves and how much you want to hold onto those moments—snuggly babies, wild toddlers, growing kids, and all the seasons in between.

It’s a dream to capture those moments. The tiny details you’ll want to remember. The goofy grins, the gentle hand-holds, the way your baby lights up when you look at them.

This is more than a photo session; it’s a way to pause time.
