Couples Session - Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah

Sam & Sam just got engaged last summer and wanted to do their engagement session out at the Bonneville Salt Flats near Wendover. The Salt Flats are about 1.5 hours from Salt Lake City so it’s a quick day trip out there. What a perfect night for an engagement session! It was overcast and just a little cool but not too cold. Overcast is my absolute favorite type of weather at the Salt Flats because it makes the salt look SO WHITE. And the combo with the blue sky and blue mountains in the background is just beautiful.

What was even better is their choice of outfit colors - the blue jeans and jean jackets with the white salt and blue backdrop just really made everything pop and mesh really well. We drove out onto the flats a ways to get closer to the mountains and away from any people and it was perfect! I love that you can walk right onto the Salt Flats, 2 minutes from the rest stop and still get amazing photos but if you want to drive 5-10 minutes on the flats to get closer to the mountains, the backdrop changes slightly making the mountains look larger. It’s nice that wherever you are you can get pretty much the same look.

I love when couples bring 2 outfits for their engagement session because as you can see in these photos, their different outfits and color choices change the whole mood and look of the photos. It’s really fun.

If you’re looking to do your engagement session or even just a couple session at the Salt Flats, I’d love to meet up and get you some gorgeous photos! I’ve had a lot of clients traveling to Salt Lake from all over the country wanting to get photos at the Salt Flats and they always love it because it’s SUCH a different landscape from anything they’ve seen!
