This beautiful fall engagement session near Salt Lake City is one of my favorites from this fall! The golden aspens were glowing yellow and completely surrounded us. The canyons near Salt Lake City are pretty amazing in the fall. You can find reds, yellows, and oranges all around. This spot was full of aspens so it was completely yellow with a little bit of green left. It was an overcast day with just a little bit of rain, so it made the colors pop even more.

These two brought their two dogs - one a massive mix and the other a small dachshund. They were hilarious to watch as their personalities were totally different, yet still full of energy. You are always welcome to bring your dogs to your session! There are a few canyons that don’t allow dogs (Big and Little Cottonwood) but most allow them. We were able to get lots of fun shots with them playing with their dogs and some of just the two of them while their dogs explored.

They wore the perfect outfits - creams, jeans, and browns. I always recommend earthy tones because it blends so well with the background. For fall shoots, my favorite colors are creams, browns, tan, blacks, olive green, and sometimes a pop of orange rust or a maroon can work well.

I always love to recommend sweaters, layers, and boots. Clothing that fits the season! Layers are nice because it can warm up as we’re running around during the shoot. I like to keep my shoots fun, movement based, with lots of laughter. I’ll definitely get those classic smiling at the camera shots, but most of the time we’ll be running, jumping, twirling, giving piggy back rides and lifts, spinning, and other fun things that get you laughing together and feeling natural.
